Every deposit has its own colour and pattern, and no stone can simply be swapped for a "similar" one. These are the ones we work with regularly.
black
Gabbro rather than granite in the strict sense: a dense black rock with almost no pattern. Polished, it comes out mirror-smooth and evenly black, which makes it well suited to polished tiles and cladding. Denser than granite, so it takes up almost no water.

black with blue iridescence
A black rock with iridescent blue patches: at the right angle the labradorite crystals flash blue and blue-green. The effect shows only when polished, so split or flamed the stone simply looks dark. The most striking piece in our range, and the most expensive.
red-brown
Warmer and calmer than Leznykivske: the red ground is darkened with brown and the grain is medium. It does not shout across a large area, which makes it work well in yards and on facades where solid bright red would be too much. Flaming pulls an almost terracotta tone out of it.
red
Ukraine's best-known red granite: a deep brick-red ground with coarse feldspar grain. Polished, it holds a rich colour that does not dull, which is why it has been used for cladding for decades. Dearer than grey, but it is what gives a paved surface its colour accent.

grey
The most widely used Ukrainian grey granite — evenly grained, with no sharp blotches or veins. It shrugs off frost and de-icing salts, so it goes into setts, kerbs and channels wherever lorries run. It is the cheapest option for any given finish, and the grey tone argues with neither a facade nor greenery.
Colour and pattern come from nature, not paint: granite does not fade or lose strength over the years.
The same stone looks different: polishing deepens the colour and pattern, thermal finishing makes the surface lighter and rough, and splitting leaves a natural face.
